Russell is one of the founding members of the Project Management Institute (member No. 6). He has 65 years of international experience in project, operations, engineering, military, and corporate management. He has been a Management Consultant (38 years): Archibald Associates, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, in 16 countries in telecommunications, IT, industrial, engineering, construction, and consumer product projects, plus government agencies and international development banks. Previously he held various corporate positions, such as (15 years): mechanical engineer, refinery construction and operation (ESSO/Creole Petroleum, Venezuela), and project manager and senior executive in telecommunications (ITT Corp., USA and Mexico), and in automotive manufacturing (Vice President-Planning, Bendix International Corp.: France, India and the United States.)
Prior to that Russell was at the United States Air Force (1943-46, 1951-58) and Aerospace Industry: 9 years as USAF Captain/Senior Pilot, project officer, design and project engineer, and 3 years as design engineer and Department Manager, Aerojet General Corporation (POLARIS Weapon System) and Hughes Aircraft Company.
Russel is also has written several books, he is the author, “Managing High-Technology Programs and Projects” (Wiley, 3rd Ed. 2003), (English, Russian, Italian and Chinese); co-author “Network Based Management Information Systems (PERT/CPM)” (Wiley, 1967), plus numerous articles and papers. Honored in 2005 with PhD in Strategy, Programme & Project Management, Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Lille. Jim O’Brien Lifetime Achievement Award 2006 by the PMI College of Scheduling.
